The information presented in this section includes the types of economically active and inactive population, characteristics of the population employed in various economic sectors, major labour force indicators, economic participation rate and unemployment rate, and statistics on government employees (subject to labour law, by employment status, etc.). Statistics and information related to human resources were collected for the first time in 1939 by the General Directorate of Statistics and Civil Registration in some of the country's important cities. In 1956, while conducting the first general population census, which was conducted by the General Directorate of Statistics, some information was obtained in this field. Then, by implementing several statistical projects in the fields of agriculture, industry and population, among the collected statistics, information related to human resources was also considered in accordance with the subject of the project. In the following years, the Statistical Center of Iran, while implementing the general population and housing censuses of 1966, 1976, 1986, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 2000, and the current population census of 1991, collected basic statistics and information related to human resources. In addition, since 1997, it has also implemented a sampling plan for household employment and unemployment characteristics, and this plan was implemented every year until 2004. In the aforementioned years, the data for the month of November was presented as a representative of the year. Since 2005, the labour force census has replaced the aforementioned plan. It is worth noting that, given the characteristics of this plan, the information provided in these years is the average of annual information. To prepare and organize the statistics and information in this section, the results of the household employment and unemployment characteristics census and the labour force census of the Statistical Center of Iran, as well as the statistical reports of the Administrative and Employment Affairs Organization, have been used. Regarding the statistics provided, it is necessary to explain the following points: In the household employment and unemployment characteristics census and the labour force census, the sample statistical population only includes ordinary resident households and does not include collective and ordinary non-resident households. Statistics related to each ministry or institution include statistics of all organizations and units under its jurisdiction. Statistics of employees of the Ministry of Intelligence, the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Support and its affiliated companies, and military and law enforcement forces are not available due to confidentiality, nor are statistics of employees of companies under the jurisdiction of government organizations due to their specific employment status.
